|October Continues Focus
|The month of October includes White & Red Ribbon Week, SEP Conferences, & the Halloween Parade, & the Fall Carnival|
|Each year in the Fall we reflect on our progress from the previous year. We celebrate our students progress and learning while we also look at areas that we can improve. |
Here are some highlights of our progress:
Our 45% proficiency in Language Arts on the SAGE test was the 4th highest in the state when comparing similar schools.
Our 49% proficiency on math was the 4th highest in the state when comparing similar schools.
78% of our 3rd Graders grew at or above typical compared to other students in the state as measured by DIBELS.

|We hope that your students are coming home and sharing with you the “Happy Habits” they are learning at school. Ask your students about them:
|PTA Activities in October
|We have some amazing PTA activities happening in October:|
White Ribbon. Students will be taught responsible digital citizenship during their computer and Art classes October 9-13.
Reflections. This is an art contest open to all students. The theme this year is “Within Reach.” Deadline for submissions is October 26th.
Red Ribbon Week. This week helps our students make healthy choices relating to illegal drugs and alcohol. During the week of October 23-27 watch for activities each day to help our students make great choices.
PTA Fall Carnival. Friday October 27, 2017
We are so excited for our Fall Carnival! This event is not only for all the families that go to Woodruff but also for the community (friends, neighbors and extended family). The fundraising packets that were sent home are to collect donations from those in our community.
This is the only PTA fundraiser for the year. We will not be having another one before the Wildcat Run. If we don't earn the funds now, we won't be able to provide wildcat run shirts. So just like in years past, please have your students raise funds for our PTA so we can keep providing fun activities for your students!
As your student gets donations, please have them bring in their packets and we will send them back home daily. For every two people that donate to your student, your student will receive 1 prize drawing ticket.
Each person that donates, they will receive PRIZE DRAWING TICKETS. The bounce houses, carnival games and face painting are all included in the minimum $5 or more donation/immediate family. Those activities don't cost tickets. Texas Roadhouse will be catering food that night. This is optional. It is $5/plate (pulled pork, roll with butter and buttered corn). Coca-cola will also be providing water and soda to go along with the meals.
If you have further questions, please contact the PTA: email@example.com
Coffee & Cocoa with the Principal:
This year join Mr. Markworth every 3rd Wednesday from 8:00-8:30 to discuss school issues and have a cup of coffee and/or hot cocoa
