Principal Markworth's April Letter

Welcome back from Spring Break.  I hope you had a relaxing week to prepare you for the rest of school.

April and May are our SAGE Testing times for our 3rd-5th Grade students.  We are excited to see our students show their progress in the areas of writing, language arts, math, and science.  Our students have been preparing and learning for these assessments all year.  To help them be do their best on these assessments please help them with a few simple tips:

1.     Get a good night’s sleep and arrive at school on time each day

2.     Eat a good breakfast (we do provide free breakfast for all students from 7:25-7:55 am each day)

3.     Ask the students how they did on their assessments and encourage them to do their best

4.     Encourage balance in their lives.  Have them strengthen their body, heart, mind, and spirit

Next year our school start and end times will change.  Staring next school year Woodruff will start at 8:30 am and end at 2:50 pm.  We will keep you updated on breakfast times, school bus stops, etc. as we near the start of school.

Our last AR reward for the school year is the Logan Aquatic Center on May 23, 2017.  We would like all of our students to make their reading goals this last term.  Please be in constant contact with your student and their teacher so they can meet their goal!!

For the next year, we are adding a second grade section to meet the needs of our current 1st grade class sizes.  We will be losing a 5th grade section because of lowering enrollment.  I am in the process of filling those positions for next year.

Finally, we are in the process of putting our class lists together for next year.  To help us with that process please fill out a parent input form available in the main office.  Although you cannot request a specific teacher you can provide me input as we put our classes together for next year.  Class lists will be posted in August.
